Every client begins treatment at FOY Wellness and Recovery with a free, confidential clinical assessment.
What Is the Assessment Process?
The clinical assessment is an in-depth conversation covering a client’s mental health history, substance use history if applicable, current symptoms, and support system, used to determine whether PHP or IOP is the more appropriate level of care and to begin shaping an individualized treatment plan. This is the same process most licensed treatment providers use to determine medical necessity for insurance purposes as well as clinical appropriateness.
Why the Assessment Matters
The right level of care depends on a wide range of individual factors, including symptom severity, safety considerations, and home support system, that are difficult to accurately self-assess without a clinical conversation. The assessment protects clients from either under-treating a more serious situation or entering a more intensive level of care than clinically necessary.
How the Assessment Works at FOY
Assessments are conducted in person or by phone, at no cost and with no obligation to enroll. Our admissions team also verifies insurance benefits during this process, so clients understand their expected coverage before making any decisions.
Who Should Request an Assessment
Anyone considering treatment for mental health conditions, substance use, or dual-diagnosis, whether stepping down from a higher level of care or stepping up from outpatient therapy, is welcome to request an assessment, with no obligation to proceed.
Assessment vs. Ongoing Treatment Planning
The initial assessment determines the starting level of care and forms the foundation of the treatment plan; that plan is then reviewed and adjusted continuously throughout treatment as the client’s clinical picture evolves, rather than being fixed permanently at intake.
